Check-ups are where it all begins. They are important to give you and us insight into how your oral health is going and how we can support you in maintaining your smile.
Check-ups are where it all begins. They are important to give you and us insight into how we can support you in maintaining your smile. In a check up we will assess your gums, teeth and oral environment. This may involve x-rays to assess bone health and prevent or diagnose tooth decay. Early detection of issues will mean more effective and lasting treatments can take place.
We recommend a comprehensive check-up and clean every 6 months. During your visit, the dentist or Oral Health Therapist (OHT) will conduct a thorough examination, focusing on several key areas:
Oral Hygiene and Dietary Assessment
Health of Teeth and Soft Tissues
Risk Evaluation for Dental Issues
Signs of Tooth Wear
Growth and Alignment Assessment
Bite Analysis

Scaling and cleaning is an imperative part of maintaining healthy oral hygiene. If plaque and tartar are able to build up on the teeth, regular daily cleaning will not be effective and gums and teeth will be at risk. Regular scaling and cleaning involves use of specialised instruments and high pressure water to clean in areas where you may find difficult, in order to reduce the risk of gum disease, decay or tooth loss. This should be undertaken every 6 months by a Dentist or Oral Health Therapist. At CDG , our OHT team utilises Air Flow technology to ensure maximum comfort and the highest effectiveness in reaching the very best results.

Our aim is to maintain a healthy smile with your own teeth. We strive to create realistic, functioning and minimally invasive restorations that maintain as much tooth structure as possible. This involves diagnosing early, preventing what we can, and only fixing teeth that require it in a minimally invasive and pain free way. It is ideal to avoid removal of teeth in part or whole, as a guide.
Our dentists are specialists in these treatments and aim to maintain your anatomy before moving on to more invasive treatments.
In a filling appointment your dentist will:
diagnose the tooth (may require an x-ray)
discuss treatment options with patient
drill required area
place tooth coloured filling material
polish tooth surface
check for fit and feel
Each filling will have different costings depending on how large and complex the restoration is and how long the treatment takes.

Periodontal treatment is designed to manage the progression of gum disease, providing you with a greater chance of maintaining your natural teeth. Our Dentists and Oral Health Therapists work collaboratively with you to provide regular treatments and ongoing maintenance.
If Periodontal Disease is not addressed, inflammation and infection escalates and pockets may form between the gums and teeth, leading to gum recession. Consequently, this can result in loose teeth, potential tooth loss, or the need for extraction.
Common signs of periodontal disease to watch for include:
Red, swollen, or tender gums
Painful or bleeding gums
Gums that have receded from the teeth
Persistent bad breath or an unpleasant taste in the mouth
Loose teeth, shifting teeth, or the gradual appearance of gaps

Crowns and bridges are prosthetic applications that aim to bring teeth back to their natural beauty and to restore form and function.
Our preferred dental laboratory is Digital Dental Network (DDN), located in Melbourne, Victoria where your tooth is designed and built. We have been working with DDN for over 20 years and have cultivated a close working relationship with this lab. This allows up to communicate closely with them so that our patients vision can come to life.
CrownA crown covers a damaged tooth, preserving and improving appearance, shape and alignment. Crowns are made from porcelain or ceramic materials and are crafted to match existing teeth
Bridge
A bridge is often used to replace a missing tooth or teeth. It is sometimes an alternative treatment to replacing teeth with dental implants. The device is attached to adjoining teeth or implants on either side.
A bridge allows you to preserve the look of your teeth and maintain your proper bite and function. Replacing missing teeth also assists in maintaining facial form and can prevent other teeth from becoming overused.
All restorations are designed and handcrafted in Australia using only TGA-approved materials to ensure clinical performance and safety.

A veneer is a thin layer of material placed over a tooth, either to improve the look of the tooth or to protect it.
The veneer is made of a dental composite or porcelain. Veneers can enhance the look of your teeth, which may have become discoloured or uneven over time. Talk to your dentist about how you want your smile to look, how many teeth you want to show, and what the right shade and shape is for you. Veneers should be as natural looking as possible so the end result is undetectable.
All restorations are designed and handcrafted in Australia using only TGA-approved materials to ensure clinical performance and safety.

Fissures are the grooves that naturally occur on the biting surface of teeth. If the fissures are deep and narrow, toothbrush bristles cannot fit inside to clean. Trapped food attracts bacteria which eventually leads to tooth decay.
Fissure sealants are coatings that fill these fissures and protect the teeth from dental plaque and acids. Treatment is painless, non-invasive, and requires no drilling with a coat of sealant applied to the cleaned tooth to form a physical barrier. This is a preferred treatment for younger patients to keep teeth intact as long as possible.

For some eligible adults, clear aligners present a great way to straighten teeth, improve function and aesthetics. If you have thought about improving your smile, ask your OHT or dentist about the options for creating the look you want. We will discuss the process, length of time involved and create a treatment plan that can suit you.
Dr Grant Dean is an Angel Aligner TM accredited practitioner and is working closely with them to create the smile your dreams.

Endodontic treatment (also known as root canal treatment) aims to save a tooth badly damaged due to decay, disease or injury.
Symptoms of a tooth that may require this treatment include pain, sensitivity to heat or cold, tooth discolouration and soreness or swelling in the gums. The pulp of the tooth may have become severely inflamed or infected. If left untreated, severe pain and abscesses (infection at the end of the roots) can occur.
Treatment involves two appointments. At your first appointment an opening being made through your tooth to access the pulp. Using special instruments, your dentist will remove the inflamed or infected pulp. Each root canal is cleaned, enlarged and shaped. Anti-inflammatory and antibacterial medicines are placed inside the root canal for several weeks to help stop the inflammation and infection.
At your next appointment, each canal is cleaned, dried and filled with a material called gutta percha. This protects the inside of your tooth and prevents further infection.
Your dentist may also recommend that the treated tooth be crowned to improve its strength and decrease the risk of fracturing.

Sleep mouth guards or splints are an amazing technology that can improve your quality of sleep and protect your teeth. If you find yourself waking up in the night due to clenching your jaw or grinding your teeth a splint will act as protection mechanism for your jaw, reducing the load on your teeth and preventing the break down of teeth. A splint will protect your natural teeth meaning you are less likely to require restorative treatment in the future.
